Caesar is a chimpanzee and as soon as he is born he is spared from the extermination of his peers inside a research institute. His mother had been injected with an experimental Alzheimer's drug that will make him particularly intelligent, and he is raised by a researcher with his father suffering from primary degenerative dementia. Precisely for defending the scholar's elderly parent from a neighbor's aggression, he will be locked up in a kind of zoo-prison where he will develop an awareness of his membership in a species enslaved by humans. Indeed, he will reject the freedom offered to him in order to become the architect of his fellow humans' revolt against their oppressors.

A film about the dignity and dangers of intelligence raised in captivity.

A thought-provoking film about reductions to slavery by gender, ethnicity, religious beliefs. No one is able to tolerate disrespect and dignity, and even Caesar will no longer accept getting into a car through the back door by opening the side door like any being worthy of respect and consideration.

As in the myth of the Platonic cave, those who see and know are not content to set only themselves free but must loosen the shackles of the darkness of other fellow human beings.

A film with some naiveté, strong emotional impact, fast-paced, revolutionary...

Must-see
